Hey Jack, thanks for writing.

Occasionally, yes. This article is about how airsoft is being used as part of US army basic training.

It’s a cheaper and less dangerous alternative to training fresh recruits with real firearms with blank ammunition.

Some police forces have also been known to use them in training.

However the use of simunitions (paint rounds fired from a real firearm) is far more popular as it allows the trainees to become used to the weight and feel of a live weapon as well as the recoil which airsoft just can’t truly replicate.
